Annual Fundraising Dinner

The Vietnamese Community of Oregon (VNCO) would like to invite you to join one of our biggest annual events of the year, 10thAnnual Fundraising Dinner on December 15, 2012.

For over 20 years, our organization has been serving the comprehensive needs of Vietnamese community in the Portland metropolitan through an array of culturally educational services. We cordially invite you to come and be a part of our effort to increase cultural diversity and to improve wellness in the Vietnamese community!  Proceeds from the dinner will support our program activities including the New Year Festival, Mid-Autumn Festival, and programs activities.

This year’s annual New Year Festival was a great success, drawing over 10,000 community members. With the help of more than 200 volunteers and health professionals, we provided free health screening services as well as cultural education for all participants. We also had great success with the Mid-Autumn Festival with over 1000 community members.

This year, we anticipate over 500 guests in our annual dinner. 2/ 2012 MEET JEFFERSON

On October 20th, 2012, Mr. Jefferson Smith has met the Vietnamese Community of Oregon1_ MEET_Jefferson Smith -2 at Saigon
Pearl Restaurant 
(one of the Vietnamese restaurants on 82nd Ave, Portland, OR). 
Mr. Smith is one of two primary candidates who are running for Mayor of Portland this November. In the meeting, Mr. Smith took the time explaining his plan for developing Portland and making Portland attractive for businesses. After that he listened to Mr. De Tran, the President of the Vietnamese Community of Oregon, Dr. Hoang Nguyen, owner of Columbia Medical Clinic, Dr. Thuy Tran, owner of Rose City Vision Care practice, and other Vietnamese professionals regarding the community background, strengths, weaknesses and what the community needs. He recognized that the Vietnamese Freedom Flag (yellow with 3 red stripes) is the symbol for the Vietnamese Community of Oregon and promised to hang that flag in city hall of Portland if he were to be elected to office.

4/ 2012 MID AUTUMN FESTIVAL

MID-AUTUMN CHILDREN FESTIVAL 2012 at PARKROSE High School on 10/6/12 from 4 to 8 PM.

6/ 2012 – SOCCER SPORT

In an effort to create a healthy environment for Vietnamese Youths and Adults, the Vietnamese Community of Oregon is trying to organize various sport activities for the community during summer 2012. It’s easy said than done. There are so much works to create such environment. Luckily there are so many talented young people are on the same thinking and they willing to get involved. Thanks so much for those open hearts.
In August 11th, 2012 at Madison high school, the first soccer tournament will take place with 6 soccer teams. Along with the players are their families and the whole community. It’s a joy to see so many happy faces and cheers at the park.

VNCO Picnic 2012 for Sponsors, Staffs, Volunteers, Organizations and Family Members

On Saturday June 16th, 2012, VNCO has organized a picnic in Blue Lake for Staffs, Volunteers, Sponsors, Organizations and Family members in order to thank for their support. The picnic was a blast, fun and joyful. Over 120 people have come. The environment was so fun with many group activities and plenty of foods.

The President of the Vietnamese Community of Oregon, Mr. De Tran, opened words to thanks all VNCO staffs for their dedication and all Volunteers, Sponsors, Organizations and Family members for their support and involvement. VNCO improves or not is dependent on the support of others.
